Devotional Series: “Kingdom Attitude”
Matthew 5:3-12
Many Christians living today have lost their distinctiveness and have become comfortable in assimilating into their surrounding culture with its associated unbiblical practices, rather than take a firm stance and be counter cultural.
The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew chapters 5 to 7) was a radical and counter-cultural teaching of Jesus for their times and carries precious lessons for today as well. It presents to us principles on how we can be heavenly minded but also of earthly good.
Someone has called Matthew 5:3-12 the “Be” attitudes of the Faith. What’s your attitude toward God? Jesus lists several attitudes here in the first part of the Sermon on the Mount that challenge us all. They show the way to spiritual maturity in 8 steps. Four are internal and preparational and four are external and expressional. In the next few weeks, let’s look at these together and hear the voice of our Lord speaking to our hearts and minds, calling us to His own attitude. Calling us to hold His “Kingdom Attitude “and practice them in our lives
