Devotional Series: “The Promise”
“The days are surely coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah.” Jeremiah 33:14
Our faith is built on some outrageous promises: that the ways of worldly power will be turned upside-down, for example, and that the poor will be lifted up. That love is stronger than hate, and that there is a light no darkness can overcome. But it can be hard to trust those promises, especially when so much in our world contradicts them. Which is why we need to reflect on the promises—and the stories behind them—again and again.
This Advent and Christmas devotional series on “The Promise” will focus on God’s fulfilled and unfolding promises in the Bible, using the season’s themes of hope, peace, joy, love, and light. This can include exploring Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah, the promises of God’s presence and salvation in the life of Christ, and the future promises of eternal life and peace. Join us each week as we build on a specific promise, culminating in the celebration of Jesus’ birth as the ultimate promise-keeping act of God. Amen!
